Purchase a book, or borrow from library, called "History of Motorcycles". It will tell you. It will also tell you that Harley Davidson motors were originally Honda.

You may have heard it was made from a Tomato Can.
Nobody knows for a fact what was used on 1st "prototype",,which wasn't deemed successful. the 1st "real" H-D,,,1904 25" single probably used an Evinrude Carb,,,which was most likely pewter ............................................... Or You can just stick with the Tomato Can story,,, which they used up until the 1980's when Metal Prices rose to the point that the Carb was worth more as Scrap Metal than as a carb. A Strategic Business move that sent H-D Stock Soaring. |
