Im planning to get a used 2008 ninja 250R but the present owner added a two brothers exhaust to it, so that now the bike has been technically "customized". Kawasaki says that warranty is void after customizing any of its bikes. So, is this bike"s warranty void?

It varies state-to-state. In Florida, the manufacturer must prove the modifcation caused the damage that you are trying to have covered under waranty, or that the damage would not have occurred had it not been modded.
Examples: 1.) You add a turbo to your brand new 350Z. You drive it with higher boost than it can handle, and the engine blows in 700. Easy for the manufacturer to prove the mod caused the damage. 2.) You add a cold air intake to your brand new 350Z. There is engine knocking 7,000 miles later. Pretty impossible for Nissan to prove your mod caused the problem. I'm not really sure who you should ask to how it is in your state... I only know from experience (the first situation happened to a roommate.) Usually mods like that to bikes are called slip ons. Very little mechanical knowledge needed to add on, very easy to install and uninstall. Ask for the original part, and if something happens to the bike, slip on the original part before you try to use the warranty. |

First of all, you'll need to have the warranty transferred from the previous owner to yourself. Second, you'll need to find out if the original owner purchased an additional extended warranty from the dealer that sold him/her the bike. That will also need to be transferred to you, which may include paying a fee to the warranty company.
If the present owner has the original exhaust, you can re-install it and present it for warranty work, assuming that you've already done all of the warranty transfer paperwork. Be sure and get some exhaust gaskets from a dealer before re-installing the factory pipes, it will need to look like it did from the factory or they'll refuse to do warranty work of any kind. |

Yes it's void. They didn't have to know though. You'd just have to swap the exhaus back to stock if you ever took it in for service at a kawasaki place.
