Am not a big fan of Quads as I think when one of those lands on you there is more chance of being badly hurt and to be honest many of the people that I know who race them do so as they were really bad at racing bikes. Quad racing isn't all that big where I am though.
I guess you just have to show your mother how keen you really are about racing and hope that she lets you as it is ultimately up to her and in one sense she is right, when you race it is not if you get hurt it is when. I don't know too many people who race who have not had at least one injury. It depends upon how much you really want to race if it is worth it.

People get killed getting their mail. So i look at it like this....have a little fun with life..dont be stupid..but explore it a little bit. I race motocross and never regretted it one time. Of course theres times i crash..but so what. Dirt bikes i would say would be alot safer...quads seems to tip over, get squirrelly in the air, and are alot heavier.

Bikes are alot more funner, quads are limited on what they can do. So I'd go with the bike.

if ure mums main concern is the fact its dangerous id go for the quad as untill you get to a higher level they are relatively safe as opposed to a motocross bike , quad bikes are also easier to get the hang of and are less physically demanding .
whatever you do choose there are girls that do very well in both displines all over the world so good luck whooping your cuz

    dirtbike all the way.
id only buy a quad if i wanted to go mudding or rock climbing or something like that.
    not motocross.
    i just dont like quads.
they ruin perfect ruts in the corners and make it dusty.
    haha.

If they don't let you, buy your own!
Just babysit some kids and stuff, raise money and buy!
Your cousin is just scared to be beaten by a girl,
    I am a girl too and I just got a 125cc and I am 11!
I learnt gears when i was 7 and its really fun!
Would your parents rather want you to sit infront of the TV and eat chips and get fat everyday, or have some fun on your dirt bike?
Your parents must SUCK, but I hope you get one!
My moms whole family rides dirtbikes.

    Best wishes!
